On the sixth day of our journey, we will depart from our accommodation around 7:00 a.m. bound for the city of Cusco. Along the way, we will pass through picturesque Andean communities and enjoy spectacular views that showcase the cultural richness and natural beauty of southern Peru.
Highlights include the lagoons surrounding the city, such as Urcos and Huacarpay, as well as following the course of the historic Vilcanota River, which will accompany us along much of the route known as the Sun Route.
The first stop will be in the town of Pucará, approximately an hour and a half from our departure point. This place is famous for its artisanal expressions, especially the traditional ceramic bulls placed on rooftops as symbols of protection and prosperity. It also has a lithic museum and archaeological remains of great cultural value. Here, we will have the chance to enjoy the renowned Puno coffee.
Later, we will reach the highest point of the route: La Raya Pass, located at 4,338 meters above sea level. From this spectacular natural viewpoint, we can admire a majestic view that includes towering mountains, snow-capped peaks, and the winding course of the Vilcanota River. This geographical point not only offers stunning views but also marks the natural border between the regions of Puno and Cusco.
Continuing our journey, we will pause for a buffet lunch at the San Pedro restaurant, known for its wide variety of dishes. Here, you can enjoy options ranging from meats and fish to delicious vegetarian dishes, all prepared with fresh, local ingredients.
Next, we will visit the Raqchi archaeological complex, known for its impressive structures dedicated to the god Wiracocha. Near this area is also the Q’eswachaka bridge, a traditional construction made of plant fibers, renewed annually by local communities.
Before reaching our final destination, we will stop in the charming Andean village of Andahuaylillas, home to one of the most valuable expressions of colonial art: its main church, nicknamed the 'Sistine Chapel of America' for its rich murals and decorations. This temple surprises visitors with its extraordinary murals, gilded altarpieces, and artistic wealth reflecting the fusion of Andean tradition and European influence. If time permits, we will also pass through the district of Oropesa, famous for its large “chuta” breads.
By the end of the day, we will arrive in the historic city of Cusco in the afternoon. We will accompany you to your accommodation, giving you the opportunity to rest or, if you wish, explore the city at your own pace.

This site was the most important religious center of the Tahuantinsuyo, where walls were covered in gold and worship was offered to Inti, “the sun god”. Inside, you can still perceive traces between the Inca architecture and the colonial structure of the Santo Domingo Convent, built upon its foundations after the arrival of the Spaniards.
We will then head to the archaeological complexes located on the outskirts of the city:
At the end of this tour of the important vestiges of the Andean past, we will return to the hotel so you can rest or spend the rest of the day exploring the city on your own.

On the eighth day of our exciting adventure, we will pick you up from your hotel between 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning to begin an unforgettable day through one of Peru’s most emblematic destinations: the impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas.

This site stands out for its extensive agricultural terraces descending the slopes, as well as its ceremonial enclosures and its complex canal system. At the base of the site, we will visit the famous Pisac handicraft market, a place full of color, tradition, and handmade products by local artisans. Here, you can appreciate textiles, ceramics, jewelry, and many other cultural expressions preserving the essence of Andean peoples.
Continuing the journey, we will follow the course of the Vilcanota River until we reach Urubamba, the heart of the valley. In this peaceful place, surrounded by mountains and fields, we will enjoy a buffet lunch prepared with local ingredients such as quinoa, corn, native potatoes, and trout, all in an environment that blends gastronomy with nature.
In the afternoon, we will head to Ollantaytambo, one of the few living cities that still preserves its original Inca urban layout. We will visit its impressive archaeological complex, which includes temples, religious enclosures, ritual fountains, and huge terraces built with perfectly fitted stone blocks. This site was also the scene of important battles during the Inca resistance against the conquistadors.
On the way back to Cusco, we will make a brief stop in the charming town of Chinchero, known for its strong textile tradition passed down from generation to generation. Besides its artisan workshops, we will visit the ruins of the ancient palace of Inca Túpac Yupanqui, alongside a colonial church built over Inca structures, where history and devotion blend.
After completing this journey full of culture, history, and natural beauty, we will return to Cusco city. Later, we will head to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the service that will take you to the town of Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes).
